The West Maitland old boys were licking their lips as the Red Dogs assured themselves a top-three finish and finals in the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League D-grade competition in their return season to footy after a several year break.
The junior club of Australian representative Greg Bird, Pickers great Brian Burke and current Pickers stars Sam Anderson, Brock Lamb and Jayden Butterfield, Wests have a bye next week before facing Abermain Hawks in the final round.
The Hawks showdown is likely to decide which teams finishes third on the ladder with both teams equal on 20 points after round 14.
The 12 try effort included doubles to Cody Waters and Braith Edwards. Zach McEntrye kicked seven of 12 conversions.
Wests' Ladies League Tag had an important 8-0 win on the road against Dungog.
The victory keeps the Red Dogs in fourth place equal on 20 points with Fingal Bay (second) and Shortland (fourth). They have Swansea breathing down their necks in fifth on 19 points.
