Well, this arguably once in a lifetime opportunity is up for grabs with a heartwarming catch. Well-known identity Bob Roberts is the man behind the wheel, so to speak. The plan is simple.
Mr Roberts is raffling rides in his award-winning 1926 Rolls Royce in a bid to raise money to help find a permanent residence for some of Maitland's historical organisations.

"There are a number of groups in Maitland that need a common building to work from. So we've decided to get up and get cracking and raise the money ourselves," Mr Roberts said.
"I've always thought of trying something like this but now it's won a major award, I'd like to drive it over to the United Kingdom to compete against the Brits."
The 'Old Marjorie' was judged as Australia's overall winner and grand champion in the Rolls Royce car in the 2021 concourse.
The old girl will take on paying passengers and drive around Australia. The fundraiser has a goal of a whopping $200,000. The cost is $2000 for 100 to 150 miles of travelling.
"It's cheaper than an Uber ride," Mr Roberts added.
Oh, and passengers must be dog friendly as the Mr Roberts' faithful hound Hector will be along for the ride.
People must register by August 15 and the plan is to take off in mid-Stepember - pandemic permitting.
To RSVP or make a query, mail 'The Overlander, PO Box 99, East Maitland, 2323'.
