The business, which cannot be named publicly, was fined yesterday for failing to display the QR code in a sufficient way.
Every business is required to have a QR code customers can use to sign in through Service NSW.
"The legislation is quite clear," Port Stephens-Hunter Inspector Dan Skelly said.
"They did not have adequate QR sign-in procedures. They will have 28 days to pay the fine and if they don't pay the fine within that timeframe they will get a reminder notice to pay it. All up they get 56 days to pay it and if they don't they will get a summons to attend court."
The fine was one of 7 issued in the past 24 hours.
Health authorities have expressed their concern about the rising number of Maitland cases.
"The majority of things we are seeing are breaches other than face mask breaches - things like people not signing in, people travelling around and leaving home without a valid reason," Inspector Skelly said.
"If you have two or more people in a car you can expect to get stopped by police because you can't be in a car with anyone else other than your nominated person if you live on your own, or a member of your family.
"Because of the low amount of vehicles on the road at the moment you can expect you will get pulled over."
