Pringle snared a spot for Kevin Warby-trained A Paradigm Shift in the opening heat of the resurrected series at Newcastle Harness Racing Club on Friday night before also steering home It's Inevitable in the third.
"It's been a long-time coming, I've had some bad luck with that horse (It's Inevitable). Try and crack the final now," Pringle said.
Both winners automatically qualify for the $12,240 decider on September 24 along with heat-two victor Sky Diamond, prepared by Mark Callaghan at Morisset.
"He hadn't had a run for a month so hopefully that will top him off for the final," Callaghan said.
The Hawkesbury To Hunter series continue at Newcastle this Friday with last week's second-place getters - Favouritehighlight, Scotlynn Jiggs and Dancinginthedark - also a chance to advance depending on the number of upcoming heats.
Monday's meeting at Newcastle has Pringle down for six drives, including his own Ghostly Silence.
Elsewhere, Ellalong trainer-driver Michael Formosa and Oakhampton trainer-driver Rodney Atkins have progressed to the next stage of the NSW Breeders Challenge following respective 3YO triumphs for Heavenly Holly (fillies) and Sunshine Pepper (colts and geldings) at Tamworth on Thursday.
