According to Mr Lovegrove, the supermarket has created 55 new jobs for the area so far.
"We will be offering a home delivery service, online shopping (which will be live in late October), barista made coffee, Chicken Express Fried Chicken, a deli offering including home cooked favourites and our loyalty card program which will launch in November."
The supermarket is owned by Hunter locals James Lovegrove from Dungog, Peter Trappel from Clarence Town, and Kylie and Russel Dean from Gillieston Heights.
The store will stock a range of local products, and always be open to ranging more according to Mr Lovegrove.
The group chose Gillieston Heights for their next location as they saw high demand in the area.
"We saw it was a growth area in need of this kind of service, and was a good fit for us," Mr Lovegrove said.
The IGA will be open from 6am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 8pm on Sundays.
The liquor department will be open 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 8pm on Sundays.
"We are very much looking forward to becoming part of the local community."
