The show, which closes on December 12, is based on Oscar Wilde's most famous comedy, but with an 80s twist.
The Repertory's Ian Robinson said the play is a bit of a slapstick comedy, with some of the best classic comedy lines that have ever been written.

The theatre is now back to full capacity after COVID-19 restrictions and can welcome 140 audience members to every show.
"They have been laughing uproariously, it's a great way to end the year because it's so light hearted," Mr Robinson said.
In the news:
"It's great to see the community of Maitland continuing to support our community theatre."
The cast practiced for the first seven weeks of rehearsals through Zoom during lockdown, which is another way the 126 year old classic has been modernised.
The play is about Jack and Algernon who have met the loves of their lives, but both are told that they will only marry men with the Christian name of Earnest.
The Directors Nick Thoroughgood and Rylee O'Rourke have updated the play and taken it in a new direction, saying goodbye to swishing skirts and formal suits, and dressing the cast in modern clothing.
The Repertory Theatre will celebrate their 75th anniversary in 2022, and the first show of next year will be in January, with a touring production of 84 Charing Cross Road by Newcastle Theatre Company.
Performances of The Importance of Being Earnest continue on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 12 December.
Tickets are $25/$20 and bookings can be made at mrt.org.au or by calling 0466 332 766.
