Mackay's Cool Bourbski took out Friday night's final at The Gardens, the same venue which will host next year's inaugural "The 715" worth $500,000 to the winner.
"It's just unbelievable, it will prove a huge shot in the arm for the industry here in the Hunter," Mackay told The Dogs website.
"To think The Gardens will stage a race worth $500,000 for first ... I mean what can you say. That's what it's all about. Things have never been better."
Greyhounds NSW announced "The 715" on Friday morning.
Cool Bourbski then prevailed for Mackay in 41.97 seconds, 0.57s outside her own track record, with injured challenger Ice Cream Story slipping back in the home straight.
