Two washed out semi-finals may have delivered the two combatants, but there's no doubting Western Suburbs and City United are the two best teams of the season and worthy Maitland first grade cricket grand finalists.

Both teams have good bowling attacks, but the grand final should be a showdown of the two most talented, dynamic and at times simply belligerent batting line ups in the competition.
On the Plovers side Michael Rees, Aaron Mahony, Tom Irwin, Shaun Hill and skipper Mitchell Fisher versus City's Ricky Dent, Andrew Vickery, Karl Bowd, Todd Francis and captain Matt Trappel.
And if you get through those there's another half dozen on both sides who can shape a match with the bat.
"Both teams have got some big game players and good bats that both will have to rely on," Fisher said.
"I think I'd like to back us as we bat to 11, but in these type of games it's usually the big time players who get you home with big scores.
"With our bowling Harry (King) has been unbelievable all year with the new ball. Luke Kealy is always really good with the ball, always bowls big spells and has a very low economy rate.
"We've got our spinners as well in Hilly, Reesy and Izach (Dennis) as well if needed and Slim can bowl some mediums in the middle overs, along with myself I think we have a really good balance.
"We've got a lot of variety and an attack which can take 10 wickets."
After dominating the 2020-21 season only to suffer a shock loss in the grand final to Northern Suburbs, City finished second this season but in a huge test of their depth they didn't name the same team twice because of injury and unavailability of players.
"No doubt Wests have got a very strong team, the stronger team on paper no doubt there, but we are up for the challenge," Trappel said.
"I think the boys this year are going to enjoy coming in as the underdog without the pressure to perform.
"We do have some big game players and if we play our best cricket hopefully we can get the job done.
"Our batting is strong and there's no secret our spinners will be our strength in bowling."
