After dismissing City for just 102 in 48 overs, Wests were 4/103 when they passed City's total in fading light and jubilant Wests fans began to celebrate.
City skipper Matt Trappel made it official when he called an end to the game a day early with Wests firmly in charge - a position they have enjoyed all season.
Fittingly Plovers skipper Mitchel Fisher was named player of the match after claiming the opening two wickets on his way to figures of 3-31 from a 15-over opening spell which left City on the backfoot from when opener Andrew Vickery miscued a shot and skied the ball high to Tom Irwin who took the first catch of the match.
Fisher paid tribute to City and said he understood their hurt on losing the grand final, but from Wests' perspective it was great to finally win the premiership after three tough years.
"We've worked really hard to win this comp, after the hurt of the past two years when it was taken away from us I'm sure we'll celebrate for a few days," Fisher said.
Trappel paid tribute to his players and everyone at the club for making the grand final, but said it was a deserved win by Wests.
"It's been a really tough year for cricket in general. At our club I don't think we have had the same team all the way through this year in first grade," Trappel said.
"That has taken a huge toll on our club and thank you to everyone who has contributed.
"We deserved to be here today, but we've been beaten by a way better team."
Both skippers praised Northern Suburbs and the groundsmen for how well Lorn Park was presented after so much rain in recent weeks.
Wests fielding was superb and they backed up their bowlers with six catches including diving efforts by Harry King and Aaron Mahony.
The wickets were shared around with King picking up 3-31 off 17 overs, Mick Rees 3-17 off nine and Luke Kealy 2-11 off seven.
City opener Ricky Dent was magnificent in a beaten side making 60 until he was caught by Kealy off the bowling of Rees to be the second last batter out.
In a disappointing batting performance, Trappel with 11 was the only other batter to reach double figures.
With 32 overs to bat, Wests lost Rees for two when he was judged lbw off the first ball from Izaac Coyle's opening spell.
Irwin and Zach Gayfer steadied the ship with a 50-run partnership until Gayfer was out for 27 caught just inches off the ground by Matt Trappel in slips off the bowling of Todd Francis.
Mahony and Irwin continued to attack City's bowling with Mahony hitting two sixes and a four savaging Nick Bower for 18 off one over.
Mahony tried his hand once too often off Bower and was caught by Tim Baker after making 24 off just 28 balls.
Irwin fell for 42, judged lbw off the bowling of Francis, three runs short of what turned out to be victory.
The second grade grand final finished with two runs separating Eastern Suburbs and Kurri Weston after day one at Robins Oval on Sunday.
Easts were dismissed for 77 with Kurri Weston's Adam Sable taking 4-16.
Kurri Weston were seemingly cruising to a big lead at 2-63 when Michael Gates and Matt Zechel were both out in quick succession.
They carred the score to 4-75 but then lost six wickets for just four runs to take a two run lead into day two next Saturday.
Will Stoneman took 5-22 and Cal Sargent 4-25 for Easts.
In third grade, Tenambit Morpeth Bulls are premiers after batting first and making 122 at Jack Collins Oval and then dismissing Raymond Terrace for 92. Noel Kalathil was the chief destroyer taking 4-22.
Eastern Suburbs claimed the fourth and fifth grade premiership defeating Kurri Weston and Thornton respectively
In fourth grade, Easts Blue dismissed Kurri Weston for 89 and then made 5/93 in reply at Lorn Park on Sunday.
In fifth grade, Easts Green made 7/155 led by 52 not out retired to Chris Merchant before dismissing Thornton for 105. Corey Krake played a lone hand for Thornton making 49.
Under-13 bowler Charlie Lovegrove was the star with the ball for East taking 4-18.
Grand finals in junior ranks will be held over to next weekend. The highest placed teams in semi-finals will advance to the grand final.
