Under Maitland and District Cricket Association bylaws the highest placed team on the ladder at the end of the regular season is declared premiers in the case of washouts.
MDCA secretary Matt Trappel said Bowthorne made an application for the premiership to be shared with their grand final opponent Tarro who finished second on the B-grade ladder.
Trappel said it was up to the clubs involved to make any application for a shared title but both teams would need to agree for the application to be considered.
He said it was disappointing that further overnight rain and showers on Sunday morning meant all grounds had failed wet weather assessments.
The ruling applied to the 2nd grade grand final between Kurri Weston and Eastern Suburbs, A, B and C-grade One-Day comps and junior cricket finals.
"Not the way we want to finish the season off. Mother Nature has certainly caused some headaches for us this season," Trappel said.
"I think overall it has been a tremendous season and one we needed after the past two COVID-affected seasons.
"Congratulations to all the teams who made the finals."
