The Morpeth Branch celebrated 21 years recently with a gathering of more than 50 invited guests at St James Anglican Church Hall in Morpeth.
The first meeting, to endeavour to form a branch in Morpeth, was held at the now closed Morpeth Bowling Club.
Luckily, enough interest was created
The Morpeth Branch was officially formed falling under the umbrella of the The Hunter River Group which currently has 24 branches throughout the region.
Morpeth branch officially turned 21 in October last year, but due to COVID, celebrations had been put on hold.
Guests to the recent 21st celebrations included branch patron and former Maitland Mayor Peter Blackmore. Other guests attending represented a number of other Morpeth community organisations and neighbouring CWA branches.
The Morpeth Branch works closely with the schools in the area, and is part of their end of year presentation days, by way of presenting awards to students.
Portia, a student from the Morpeth Public school and her music teacher/mother, attended the morning tea, and delighted guests with their singing performance.
A trivia quiz on Morpeth tested the brains of the guests. Other fun games were also held.
The 21st cake was made by branch president Dianne Innes, and decorated by treasurer Tracey Cambourn.
Long serving and founding member Diane Burton was, very surprised and honoured, and for once was stuck for words, when she was presented with her long service badge during the party.
The branch meets on the second Friday of each month and interested ladies are warmly invited to attend. For further information please phone Secretary Diane on 0429 616 518.
