"They were pretty happy. It was a big win for the girls after they had been on the receiving end of some pretty big losses to Dungog," Cessnock LLT coach Peter Maytom said of the historic 8-4 victory.
The Cobras secured the win with two second half tries after trailing 4-0 at half-time.

The game was switched to Stroud Showground after Dungog's Bennett Park was ruled unfit for play and was set to be part of a triple header with Stroud's LLT team and the merged Stroud/Clarence Town men's team.

But after a pre-season of wash-outs and grounds unfit for play or training, the combined men's team collected the two points but will have to wait another two weeks for their first game of the season after Karuah forfeited.
Simply playing a game of footy was enough to console Paterson coach Matty Garland in part after his side's 46-6 loss to Gloucester in a series of blow-out results in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League Northern Conference.
"The score line showed no justice in reflection of the effort the boys displayed," Garland said.
"Playing Gloucester in Gloucester is tough enough on its own, but the boys dug deep despite playing with 16 men and having three reserves after serval players were forced to unfortunately pull out with injuries or other commitments during the week."
The Morpeth Bulls kicked off the season with a 48-16 defeat of Raymond Terrace. The nine try effort included a hat-trick to Jay Brown and double for Jacob Ritchie.
Hinton also had a big win smashing Tea Gardens 50-10 with nine individual try scorers and Mitchell Kelly kicking seven goals.
Dungog had the bye.
