Ms Chapman’s brother Trent returned home from his second tour of duty with the Australian army in Afghanistan last week and she wanted to be able to throw an almighty party to celebrate. She also had her 30th birthday and said it would be “the best birthday present” to have her little brother home.
Ms Chapman told the producers of Deal or No Deal about her party plans when she entered the game show and endured a lengthy selection process to get on the program.
Her friend Rebecca Blewett helped with the application forms and was able to join her in Melbourne for the filming.
“I just thought it would be a funny story,” Ms Chapman said.
“We were just happy to get down there. It was really nerve- racking and you can see yourself on a big screen. Host Andrew O’Keefe was really nice, he spoke to me in the ad breaks.”
Ms Chapman held a combined party for her and her brother at the Grand Junction Hotel on Saturday night where everyone came dressed as their favourite musician.
Her brother didn’t know it was also a celebration for him.
“He was pretty surprised when his friends were there,” she said.
Ms Chapman and Ms Blewett will watch the show with their friends and family at the Grand Junction Hotel tomorrow afternoon.
