While fragrant red roses remain the most popular flower for the most romantic day of the year, Gwyneth Harbrow from The Rose Farm at Lorn said pink, yellow, orange and white varieties would also get a look in.
“I haven’t been able to promise reds because the hot spell wiped out a lot of them and no one’s really been phased about it,” Mrs Harbrow said.
“In fact, I think the trend is going more towards the mixed coloured roses, which is really nice.”
Mrs Harbrow and husband Cameron moved into the rose farm residence 18 months ago and re-opened the long-time business late last year.
“We haven’t got as many roses as we would like because we lost a lot of them in the refurbishment and we have to restock, so we are not up to capacity yet,” Mrs Harbrow said.
“The thing I love about roses the most is the smell, if they don’t have a smell I don’t see the point in having them ... but they are beautiful flowers.”
