This year’s field days are special, with the event celebrating its 30th anniversary. Congratulations to all.
As the field days manager Wendy Franklin rightly commented earlier this week, 30 years is a significant milestone and it’s rare for events to enjoy the longevity that the field days have.
The key to the field days success is, or course, its exhibitors, some of whom have been present every year.
It is also a testimony to the resilience of the rural sector and the passion that its people have for the land and all that it can produce.
And, as an increasing number of people are realising, the Hunter Valley is indeed God’s own country.
The field days are a true community event, with people from all walks of life – from multinational agricultural machinery dealers to artisan cheesemakers, from the mounted police to school students – getting involved to ensure the success of the event.
Of course there is much more to Tocal than its annual field days.
Under the leadership of Dr Cameron Archer, Tocal Agricultural College produces outstanding graduates who receive a top-quality tertiary education and leave with the confidence of knowing they will be highly employable.
The Maitland Mercury – which celebrated its own milestone earlier this year, clocking up 170 years – is proud to once again be a media partner of Tocal Field Days.
