In 2013, the committee is celebrating its 45th year of raising funds for blind and visually impaired people in the Hunter Valley with its 30th Garden Ramble next month.
Garden Ramble co-ordinator Lorraine Noonan said the committee is proud to have stood the test of time.
“It’s our 30th anniversary of the Garden Ramble so we must be doing something right,” said Mrs Noonan.
“It’s also the 45th anniversary of the whole committee and we have 11 gardens on show this year.”
The 11 gardens are spread out across the Maitland area, with the committee hoping another event in September doesn’t steal their thunder.
“The gardens are all over the area, they range from Lochinvar and Windella to Bolwarra, Woodville and then a few more in town.
“There will be a few special activities planned this year, we’re just hoping Mr Rudd doesn’t call his election on that weekend.”
The 2013 Maitland Black and White Committee Garden Ramble is on September 20-21 with the money raised going to Vision Australia.
Tickets are $25 to visit all gardens or $5 to visit a single garden.
A bus will depart from Maitland Railway Station at 9.45am on both days.
Tickets for the bus are $15 and bookings are essential.
