The 13-year-old fox terrier called Jenny collapsed in the house after the fire engulfed a back room.
A firefighter noticed the unconscious pooch and took her to safety. Paramedics treated the dog for smoke inhalation and resuscitated her.
Thirty firefighters worked to save the house, which was partly engulfed by flames, after emergency services received the call at 9.52am.
The first crew arrived within five minutes and called for back-up because the house contained asbestos.
A Hazmat crew was called in, along with four other trucks. Five Fire and Rescue NSW stations were involved.
Firefighters managed to save half of the house.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
Earlier in the week, a 50-year-old Tenambit woman also rescued a dog and a TV when she ran inside a burning home to save her elderly neighbour on Wednesday.
The woman saw smoke coming from the house on Ribee Street at 5.50pm and alerted emergency services before running into the house to retrieve the man, who was not aware his kitchen was on alight.
After the woman helped the man to escape she went back into the house to rescue the dog and TV.
She then re-entered the house to try to extinguish the fire, but the smoke and heat forced her to retreat.
The woman was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Maitland Hospital in a stable condition.
The man and the dog were not injured.
