The school will celebrate it’s 150th anniversary with a fair starting at 10am.
There will be stalls and entertainment from local and former students, including singing and dancing, plus performances from the school’s choirs.
There will be a ceremony starting at 11am that will include the placement of a time capsule full of letters from students to their future selves, the unveiling of a commemorative mural and the cutting of a celebratory cake.
The cake will be cut by the school’s oldest and youngest students, 94-year-old Edna Thomas and five-year-olds Kady and Samara Revie.
The school’s motto is “pride and honour”, something assistant principal Michelle Ballenden said the school looked forward to displaying to the community on Saturday.
“Our students have been looking into a little bit of the history of the school and some have been chosen to read letters to the audience,” she said.
“We’ve also had our students learning our old school song, which we will perform as well as our current school song.
“We’ve got some ex-students from Rutherford and Singleton high schools coming to sing and a couple of other former students, Sam West and Natalia Skimmings, performing.
“And our mural we’ve had painted depicts the school as it has transitioned over time from when there was no uniform and no shoes to what our kids are currently wearing, as a historical representation.”
The school will also be taking orders for a commemorative book of the school’s 150 years, which will be published after the event.
