Now it is time to pass over the baton with Rathmines teenager Jordan Warner scoring the lead role of Annie in the Maitland Gilbert & Sullivan and Musical Society’s 2014 production.
But Miss Lewis, 25, is not stepping too far from the stage with the young Black Hill woman taking on the reins as musical director.
“Jordan is a much taller and more polished Annie than I was, you can tell she’s had some training,” Miss Lewis said.
“We had a lot of kids audition for Annie but as soon as Jordan walked through the door there was something about her, she had this persona.
“And she’s such a lovely girl and she suits the role.
“And she just had this smile that wouldn’t go away at any point.”
For Jordan, 13, Annie will be her first big musical performance.
“I was just really excited because I didn’t expect it, I just thought I’d give it a go,” Jordan said.
Annie opens on January 25 at West Leagues Club and will return to Maitland on January 29.
