It should come as no surprise that rugby union proved to be no exception and, with only a handful of games under his belt, Jenkins earned selection in the NSW PSSA squad.
The Hunter Valley Grammar School student helped NSW CIS claim a state title before heading off to the national championships in Canberra.
However, most of the winter months had been focused on rugby league with Jenkins part of the Morpeth Bulls under-12 side.
