Central Hunter crime manager Detective Inspector John Zdrilic said he was unsure when police would have the results, with tests carried out in Sydney.
The Bolwarra Heights man went missing in November and his remains were found in long grass five metres from the edge of Belmore Road last Wednesday.
Police called in extra resources for the search last week after new information came to light that indicated Mr Manley had been in the Lorn area in the early hours of November 22.
Although they were not immediately identified, dental records confirmed on Friday that the remains belonged to Mr Manley.
An autopsy did not find any broken bones, which discounted initial suspicions Mr Manley could have been the victim of a hit and run.
Friends and family took to social media this week to pay tribute to Mr Manley, setting up a special Facebook page dedicated to the 21-year-old’s memory.
“He was a good kid. I hope you get answers and find peace. In the arms of angels and busting a move on the dance floor of heaven,” Jane E Robinson wrote.
Jen Dolling posted: “So saddened by the loss of Pip, we had all wished for a better result.”
Nat Burgess paid tribute to Mr Manley, saying he was an exceptional soul loved by all who knew him.
“He was always there for everyone. He had a free loving heart that was clear! But it wasn’t until he died [that] it really became abundantly clear the sheer magnitude of that love!”
Some people who did not know Mr Manley personally were also moved to leave messages of support on the page for the Bolwarra Heights man’s family.
