The Maitland and District Genealogical Society members have co-written a book that details the stories of 270 men and women from the area who were involved at Gallipoli from the landing on April 25, 1915, to the evacuation in late December.
The pair received a $10,000 grant from the Anzac Centenary Local Grants program to help publish the book.
Mrs Wickham said the book would help shine a light on the deeds of people from Maitland during World War I.
“These men and women were born here in Maitland, they lived here and worked here,” she said.
“We have been quite exhaustive in our search, but if people know of any of their relatives who were involved we would love to hear from them.”
The pair also received a $3000 grant from the NSW government, administered by the Royal Australian Historical Society, as part of the Arts NSW Cultural Grant program.
Mrs Wickham said research for the book was almost complete with proofreading to begin soon.
The book will be launched in April 2015 to coincide with the Anzac Day centenary.
