There were 26 players announced in the Australian side yesterday with three from the sevens rugby system.
This follows a recent tri-nations Test series in New Zealand where the Wallaroos lost matches to both the Kiwis and Canada.
“Although we didn’t get the results we wanted, from a coaching perspective we now know exactly what we need to target and have adjusted our training programs accordingly,” Wallaroos coach Paul Verrell said.
“Having three representatives from our hugely successful sevens set-up highlights how the ARU’s Wallaroos and sevens program are working in tandem for this World Cup campaign.”
Gray will be one of 12 players at their first World Cup while Watson was part of the last campaign.
The Wallaroos will assemble at Narrabeen on July 21 for a seven-day camp before flying out to Paris.
The tournament begins on August 1 and Australian have been drawn alongside Wales, South Africa and hosts France.
