The Rams’ finals hopes ended last week with a disappointing 5-1 loss at home to Norths, but they shook off the disappointment to play out what was an enthralling, seesawing contest yesterday.

Ben Urquhart opened the scoring with a drag flick early in the first half before the home side equalised to ensure scores were level at the break.
Rams skipper Matt Brown and Nathan Baker twice put the visitors ahead in the second half, with The Entrance coming back both times, before Brown slotted the winner late in the match.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on finals, Rams stalwart Pete Urquhart said it was pleasing for the team to respond with one of their best performances of the year.
“It was a nice way to end the season for us, with nothing to win or lose we just went out there to enjoy it and we ended up playing one of our best games of the season,” he said.
“Without that pressure we played quite openly and fluently, and it worked really well.”
The win means Maitland finish just two points outside the top four, but Urquhart said the Rams’ late-season form would augur well for 2015 and beyond.
“We were a bit unlucky with a couple of results that didn’t go our way, but that’s probably our fault for not being switched on against teams lower on the ladder,” he said.
“But we certainly stuck it to a few sides and showed that we were able to compete with the best of them.
“If we can learn from that we should be able to get back up and have another crack at it next year.”
