Many others are also opposed because they can see the disruption it will cause to the ones who rely on it.
It seems counter productive to eliminate a piece of infrastructure that has served the people of the Hunter for so long. Worse yet, it will be cut before having another form of reliable user-friendly service up and running to replace it.
It’s disappointing to see the opposition parties jumping in to support the Save Our Rail lobby group just to score some political points.
It might have been more believable if they (the opposition parties) had shown some concrete support to the cause earlier.
It’s also disappointing that our state MP can’t express openly her views because of party-line restrictions.
If the Save Our Rail campaign is successful, most of the credit is due to the Maitland Mercury for having been behind the cause all the way through.
