Eastern Suburbs held their annual pre-season intra-club Pannowitz Tribute Match with the old boys up against the 2014-2015 first grade squad.
“It was a good day out,” Easts skipper Andrew Vickery said.
“It was good to get the squad together and get everyone playing cricket again.”
The 40-over trial was played on the same day as local netball, hockey and rugby union grand finals but it didn’t stop the Griffins from taking to the pitch.
And although scoring was unofficial the first grade squad eventually got the win against the Stu Pannowitz-led team, which included recently retired trio Brendan Mills, Shannon O’Hara and Neal Green.
Vickery said the likes of stalwart Jason Allen as well as young up and comer Jack Stoneman struck the ball well.
