The grant included $592,825 for 2014-2015 and $3,556,948 for 2018-2019.
In total, Hunter electorate councils have been allocated more than $19 million.
Funding for 2014-15 for Hunter councils is $3.18 million which is part of $350 million allocated in the first year.
The Nationals Duty Senator for Hunter John Williams said the five-year Roads to Recovery program would roll out $2.1 billion across the nation.
He said it would help build roads and repair streets based on local needs with no interference from Canberra.
Payments to other councils included:
- Cessnock City Council $759,719 for 2014-15 and $4,558,316 in total to 2018-19
- Muswellbrook Shire Council $413,439 for 2014-15 and $2,480,634 to 2018-19
- Singleton Council $552,786 for 2014-15 and $3,316,716 to 2018-19
- Upper Hunter Shire Council $864,729 for 2014-15 and $5,188,375 to 2018-19
“The good news is councils will receive double payments in 2015-16, sharing in a $700 million windfall,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the good news has been held up by Labor and the Greens, who blocked this legislation for five months for no good reason.”
This delayed the August payment, but the government will make it up this financial year.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss will write to councils to advise them of their allocations.
Councils can lodge their applications this month for payments in November.
