On numerous occasions in the past year, Liz Trotter has helped women get their husband’s estates in order and this dedication has earned her a national award.
“We’ve had some lovely outcomes from some horrible situations,” she said.
In one case, the judges considered the widow that faced eviction from the family home within weeks.
The widow’s husband had taken his own life, but Ms Trotter worked through the claim process with the bereaved woman and established a plan for her financial stability.
“I absolutely love my job,” she said.
“I’m totally passionate about it and I can’t do enough for women.”
Ms Trotter (nee Lebourn) was raised in Tenambit and educated at Maitland Girls High (now Grossmann).
She undertook a cadetship at the old Maitland Community Credit Union, which once occupied the synagogue on Church Street.
A series of career moves took her to Adelaide two years ago, where she is a director of Triple A Financial Services.
As the National Award Winner for Women and Financial Planning for 2014, Ms Trotter continues to serve clients in the Maitland area.
The financial autonomy of women at all stages of their lives has motivated Ms Trotter in various ways.
Her advice on saving for retirement has been published in the Business Chicks’ Latte magazine.
The mother of two also has a passion for educating Gen Y girls on healthy spending and saving habits.
The Women and Financial Planning award is open to members of Financial Wisdom.
