The school had four teams qualify for the finals in Sydney on Friday and team Audacity clinched the win.
The challenge required students to design and build a compressed air-powered 25 centimetre F1 car from balsa wood.
Audacity produced a fast car without doubt and completed it with some slick 3D printed wheels.
But the team did an equally stellar job presenting its car and the crew using marketing principles.
The school and others in the region have performed increasingly well in the annual competition since the Hunter committee of Regional Development Australia introduced the ME Program in support of maths and engineering career paths.
Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College’s Caught Speeding won the cadet class (junior division) while Mount View High school’s Revolution Racing team was runner-up in the pro-junior class division.
“It is incredibly pleasing to have so many Hunter teams competing at the State F1 finals this year,” ME Program manager Ashley Cox said.
