The win in the $25,000 race came with six-year-old bay mare Nuclear Reality ($5.30), and came off the back of a heat win at Maitland on Inter City Pace night on January 3 and another victory at Newcastle on January 20.
The lightly raced horse has now won eight of 15 starts since coming under Harmey’s care in November, 2013.
In the night’s feature race, the group 3 Kevin Robinson Cup, the news wasn’t as good for Ellalong trainer Michael Formosa.
Formosa’s star colt Ultimate Art ($27.20) came into the race having placed third and fourth in other group 3 races in January.
On Saturday night, however, Ultimate Art was restrained near the start, finishing 11.5 metres behind $1.30 favourite and Newcastle Mile winner Avonnova, which held off outsider Lochinver ($35.40) to win by a short half-head.
Keinbah trainer Shane Tritton fared little better in the other group 3 race of the evening, the $40,800 Ranji Bill Stakes.
Tritton had four runners – Laterron ($24.30), Rathmore Lady ($14.50), Chance ($57.20) and Pas Ultimate Delight ($11.50) – involved, with driver Mat Rue steering Laterron into third, while the other three runners went unplaced.
At Newcastle’s Thursday meeting, Maitland trainers Darren and Brian Elder book-ended the eight-race program with Darren’s Pure Strength ($2.80F) and Brian’s Charli Dollar ($5.10) scoring in the first and last races of the day.
There were also wins for Elrington trainer Margot Lennox’s Our Expressive Art ($4.40) in race two, and Michael Osborn’s Exterminate ($9.30) in race three.
