Students aged five to more than 70 years worked all semester on pieces that captured the season in mixed mediums. The range of images and scenery are a testament to the diversity of viewpoints and lifestyles within Maitland.
Teacher Debra Hudson said it was a great opportunity for children to have their work exhibited, but admitted the adults in her class were just as excited.
“It’s great to be admired and to see that there’s pride to be held in your art,” Mrs Hudson said.
Kate Craig, 9, said she worked on her painting of BMO, from popular cartoon Adventure Time, all semester.
“My grandmother liked to paint, I think she’d be proud of my picture if she was around to see it,” she said.
East Maitland artist Greig Ulhorn is exhibiting an oil painting of his brother’s farm.
“I’m hoping someone else would enjoy my work and take it home,” Mr Ulhorn said.
“For the price of a meal and a night out you could own some local art forever,” he said.
The exhibition runs until February 28 at Hunter Valley Gallery in High Street, Maitland.
