A-Grade
Windsor Castle have jumped to second spot with a bonus point victory, Raworth dropped to third despite winning and Port Stephens remain on top.
That was the wash up from Saturday’s penultimate round of
the Maitland and District Cricket Association A-grade competition.
Mercury sports reporter Josh Callinan takes a closer look from around the grounds in round 19 of season 2014-2015.
REGAL HUNTER V WINDSOR CASTLE
A hard-hitting unbeaten 82 from David Parish has seen Windsor Castle skyrocket from fourth to second on the competition ladder after picking up bonus points
against Regal Hunter at SMR on Saturday.
Parish struck 14 fours and three sixes in a quick-fire innings that saw the Stallions race past the Tigers’ 109 in just 11.4 overs.
The result puts last season’s minor premiers on 38 points, narrowly behind title holders and front runners Port Stephens who they meet in the final round this weekend.
Windsor Castle are equal with Raworth on the overall standings but the Rabbitohs have the bye on Saturday while Paterson are nipping at their heels in fourth spot.
DUNGOG v PORT STEPHENS
Port Stephens have put one hand on the minor premiership while ending the semi-final aspirations of A-grade first timers Dungog.
Port Stephens made 131 from their 40 overs at the crease away at Bennett Park before dismissing Dungog eight runs short for 123 with 10 balls remaining.
Jaimes Magnee was the best with the ball for the Pythons taking four wickets, with Dungog losing 5-21 in the closing stages.
Jordan Mitchell scored 33 for Dungog and Brady Rumble finished with figures of 4-29.
The result puts Port Stephens in the box seat to stay in first spot while fifth-placed Dungog will now finish outside the top four.
TENAMBIT MORPETH v RAWORTH
An impressive all-round display from Tim Burton has helped the Raworth Rabbitohs to a 40-run victory against Tenambit Morpeth on Saturday.
Burton top scored at the top of the order in a total of 7-196 and then took 2-36 opening the bowling as the Bulls were bowled out for 156 with 12 overs remaining.
Leigh Williams also made 41 for the Rabbitohs and captain Chris Murphy returned 4-28 with the ball.
Chad Mitchison (44) and Lachlan Leslie (2-21) were the best in a beaten Bulls team at Morpeth Oval.
