Ethan will represent an Australian schoolboys side and the community aims to raise $7500 to cover his expenses.
A barbecue is planned for this Sunday at Palm Valley Village, Tarro. A film night at Raymond Terrace on July 9 will also help reach that goal.
One of the fundraiser organisers is Jenny Schiemer, who taught a young Ethan at the Beresfield Community Children’s Education Centre.
Ethan’s influence means her sons also play futsal.
“If it wasn’t for Ethan I would never have been introduced to Futsal,” Ms Schiemer said.
Ethan is a member of the Emerging Jets under-14s football squad and followed his older brother into futsal.
He was selected for the national team after being recognised as a stand-out talent at the state level in a Sydney tournament in January.
The five supervising coaches at the National Schools Championship each selected their top players to form an All-Stars squad, which became most of the Australian team.
The year 9 student returned from a trip to Japan in July last year as part of his role in the Emerging Jets.
His team played Japan and other Asian teams in ambassadorial matches in the lead-up to the AFC Asian Cup.
The Saitama International Junior Football Tournament included a pre-tournament training camp and was Kulupatch’s first international tour.
“It’s becoming an expensive hobby,” Ethan’s mother Sam Kulupatch said.
The barbecue is part of a garage sale this Sunday at Palm Valley Village between 10am and noon.
People can also buy tickets to Magic Mike 2, which screens July 9.
