Maitland’s 234 Army Cadet Unit held a cadet promotion ceremony at Scobie Army Barracks, Rutherford for cadets who successfully completed a week-long course at Steele Barracks in Sydney in January.

The Officer Commanding 234 Army Cadet Unit Lieutenant Peter Dron invited past unit cadet members Cadet Warrant Officer class one Jessica Fenn (who holds the position of National Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major) and Cadet Warrant Officer class one Ben Graves (who is the Regimental Sergeant Major of 21 Australian Army Cadets Battalion) to present the cadets with their new badges of rank.
Both senior and junior non-commissioned officers were promoted within the unit.
Adam Robinson was promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer class two and is now the unit’s Cadet Company Sergeant Major.
Mr Robinson will attend the Gallipoli centenary at Lone Pine on Anzac Day after being selected by the Hunter Valley Combined District Councils of RSL. Mitchell Levick was promoted to Cadet Under Officer and he is now the senior cadet at 234 Army Cadet Unit.
Jake Weeks was also among the promotions and now holds the rank of Cadet Sergeant.
234 Army Cadet Unit is one of the biggest units in 21 Australian Army Cadets Battalion (which covers the Hunter Region), and was awarded the title of “Most Efficient Unit in 21 Australian Army Cadets Battalion” for 2014.
