Sonjasia Turner has been named Make-A-Wish Miss Teen Australia 2015 at a gala presentation in Queensland.
The Thornton teenager will now go on to represent Australia in the Miss Teen World titles in Spain next year.
“I feel absolutely amazing. I worked so hard for this and promoting this charity is all I care about,” Sonjasia said.
Sonjasia, 15, has been acutely aware of her brother Stevie’s fight for survival since she was a little girl.
Born with cystic fibrosis, Stevie, 23, lives with a range of life-threatening conditions. He is also vision and hearing impaired and cannot speak.
“I have grown up knowing Stevie is very sick and I constantly see how difficult life is for him,” Sonjasia said.
“Stevie has motivated me to raise awareness of this condition and it’s helped me to realise how people like my brother can’t experience things like these wishes without fundraisers.”
