It is unlikely any of the Maitland Rams’ upcoming matches will compare to the chaos of Sunday’s match against Wests.

In front of a grand-final sized crowd, the Rams outscored their opponents 9-6 in a mile-a-minute score-athon.
This was down to the guest appearance of Kookaburras star Simon Orchard returning to the Rams for a one-off appearance and a visit from Indian superstar Sandeep Singh.
“It was fast, extremely fast,” Rams striker Nathan Baker said.
“Defence went out the window after about 15 minutes.
“As soon as they [Wests] scored their first goal I don’t know what happened, our boys just tried to score every time we had the ball.
“It did make it extremely quick.
“They had Sandeep in their team and he scored three goals on his own.
“I would have expected him to score a few more to be honest.
“[Wests] had five or six corners, so three [goals in] is not a bad effort from our guys.”
This Sunday’s match against Gosford will be a change of pace for the Rams.
“After last week we need to slow the game down and play at our pace,” Baker said.
“Last week was a rare occasion, there was so many people there to watch the game – a lot of hype.
“The moment took over more than the boys thinking about what we were supposed to be doing.
“And, to their credit, Wests last week stepped up and played out of their skin.
“It’s hard to believe they haven’t won too many games this year because they did play very well.
“But this week we need to get back to basics and control the pace of the game.”
Maitland Rams play Gosford at Central Coast Hockey Complex on Sunday at noon.
