A 17-year-old male from Singleton and a 29-year-old male from Boggabri were the two people killed in Wednesday afternoon's car crash in the Hunter Valley.

Both were drivers in the head-on collision, which occurred about 3pm on the New England Highway at Rixs Creek, north-west of Singleton.
According to police reports, the 17-year-old P-plater was driving a white Nissan pulsar towards Singleton and crossed to the opposite side of the road.
The 29-year-old was driving a Ford Econovan in the opposite direction towards Muswellbrook and despite attempting to avoid the impact was unable to do so.
The 29-year-old had two passengers, who remain in a critical condition after they were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.
A 28-year-old male from Carrington was the front passenger and sustained spinal, skull and leg fractures.
A 28-year-old male from Gunnedah was the rear passenger and sustained a shoulder fracture.
Hunter Valley Local Area Command responded to the incident yesterday.
Police have not released the names of the deceased.
