To celebrate the arrival of Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, royal enthusiasts Jan and David Hugo will host two princess parties at their Nulkaba home – the place known as Monarchs of the Hunter.
“We are just so excited about the birth of the princess, I even guessed the name,” Mrs Hugo said.
“Things are a little more low key than they were when Prince George was born, but it’s still exciting because she is a girl and that makes it special.”
The Hugos are believed to be the owners of Australia’s largest collection of royal memorabilia and have spent almost 35 years searching for all things royal.
The obsession started when Mrs Hugo was given a commemorative coin for Diana’s and Charles’ engagement when she had her first daughter in 1981.
The collection now stands at more than 10,000 pieces including masks of Charles, Camilla and the Queen and an authentic Queen’s guard uniform from Buckingham Palace.
But now the Hugos have a whole new reason to shop.
“Our collection is bulging a bit but we’ve already pre-ordered pieces commemorating the birth of the new princess and we’ve dressed our Queen in pink,” Mrs Hugo said.
“There has been so much sadness and tragedy lately, so it’s wonderful to celebrate something nice.”
Monarchs in the Hunter is open by appointment with another princess party planned for later this month. Phone 4990 4224.
