The removal was based on another tense exchange between Ms Aitchison and the Health Minister Jillian Skinner during question time.
Ms Skinner had responded to a question about the Coalition’s health policies in rural and regional areas without referring to the new Lower Hunter hospital.
“This government has shown a remarkable disdain for the Maitland community, and nowhere is this more obvious than in their answers to questions in Parliament today,” Ms Aitchison said.
“The Deputy Premier [Troy Grant] was asked a question regarding the Coalition’s investment in rural and regional health, and failed to list the new Lower Hunter Maitland hospital or any investment in the existing Maitland Hospital in his answer.
“The new Lower Hunter Maitland hospital has been promised for well over four years, and the Deputy Premier’s answer showed how far down the list of their priorities it is.
“There is still no clear plan from the government on any aspects of the hospital’s implementation including the model or a commitment to commence building.
The Maitland MP made a Private Member’s Statement to the Parliament relating to the urgency of the need for the new Lower Hunter hospital and called on the government not to close the existing hospital at Maitland.
