The most common types of claims were for water and wind damage, food spoilage where there was loss of power, as well as damage from fallen trees or branches.
“We’ve settled almost half of our claims in the area,” NRMA chief executive Andy Cornish said.
“We have builders and claims people on the ground working with our customers to fix damage to homes and cars.”
Hunter residents lodged more than 1700 claims for food spoilage.
NRMA also relocated 11 people to temporary accommodation.
“We want to thank the Hunter community for bearing with us during this busy period in the instances when we’ve had high wait times on the phones,” he said.
