A 10-race meeting was held at Maitland Showground after extensive repairs to the damaged track.
An estimated 1300 tonnes of sand was used to replace the surface, which had to be completely cleared, filled-in and levelled before yesterday’s card.
Smart Missile was the star of the show with the Jason Mackay-trained Richmond winner taking out the seventh over 565 metres.
Mister Spiceman paid $13.50 for winning the eighth over 400m for Raymond Morris.
Louth Park trainer Peter Nielson claimed the opening maiden over 450m.
Racing at Maitland continues on Thursday. It is the second meeting at the track since last month’s Gold Cup.
