From those deceased to much loved members of the now-closed Morpeth Bowling Club, Mrs Morris has replicated each signature with her needle and thread.
And now Mrs Morris, aged 84 – a foundation member of the Morpeth Women’s Bowling Club – has bequeathed her work to the Morpeth Courthouse Museum.
“This is just something I really wanted to do but it doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to the people of Morpeth and all those who signed it,” Mrs Morris said.
Morpeth Bowling Club closed its doors on August 21, 2011. Mrs Morris hopes the cloth will serve as a constant reminder of the history of the club.
“This project has been very important to me and it contains the names of some very special people. It’s been a wonderful thing to do.”
