The NSW Environmental Protection Authority has confirmed the black substance found in a lagoon off Stony Creek was in fact waste oil.
“The investigation is continuing, and a company in the area is assisting us with our investigation,” NSW EPA north branch director Adam Gilligan said.
“Officers are continuing to have a presence in the area to oversee the clean up, conclude the oil spill investigation, and carry out ongoing surveillance
in relation to the odour issue.”
Firefighters helped contain an estimated 2500 litres of the waste oil reported to authorities on July 14.
