The league leaders managed to get most of their line-up across home plate in a productive period during the Newcastle Baseball Association fourth grade fixture.
The haul at the bottom of the third put the hosts, who trailed 2-0 following the first, further in front after edging ahead by one in the second.
This gave the Mavericks a 10-5 advantage at Gillieston Heights after three complete innings.
The Mavericks then backed this up with four more runs in the next, which effectively nullified the five University added to the score board across the fourth and fifth innings collectively.
The result keeps Maitland on top of the competition standings with
three rounds remaining in the regular season.
In the lower grades Maitland played out an 8-all draw with University in fifths and edged past the student 8-6
in sixths. Also in sixth grade but at Boomerang Field the Maitland White side were beaten 15-7 by the home team.
Elsewhere, results were split at Brandon Park with Seaham winning fifths (20-3) but Toronto hitting back in sixths (8-3) while Woodberry went down to Lakers in both grades.
