Although their first grade counterparts fell agonisingly short of making the Northern NSW Premier League finals, the Weston Bears’ under-19s and under-15s sides are alive and kicking.

The under-19s are facing Edgeworth on Saturday in the opener of a two-leg semi-final and the under-15 Bears are in the grand final on Sunday against Charlestown.
The under-19s Bears have performed strongly this year and were undefeated until their round 14 loss to Maitland.
But they got their season back on track and claimed the minor premiership.
Last week they defeated their semi-final opponents Edgeworth 3-0 and now face them two more times for the semi-final.
Under-19s coach and Weston technical director Gary Wand says his side ready for the clash.
“I don’t know if Edgeworth can play as poorly as they did again,” he said.
“They didn’t play very well and we captalised and beat them 3-0 on the weekend.
“From my point of view I hope they do [play badly] but I don’t think they will.”
The Bears’ under-15 side finished fourth this season and are now playing for the cup.
“They’ve probably overachieved, but they’ve done really well,” Wand said.
“They’ve been well coached by Craig Maddison this year and they’re a really good group of kids who have taken on board information and done well.”
Wand said the under-15s acquisition from Broadmeadow Magic, Matt Fogarty, had been huge for them in 2015.
“He came back this year and he’s scored about 24 goals this year – that’s pretty handy,” he said.
The under-19s Bears play on Saturday at Magic Park at 11am.
The under-15s Bears play their grand final on Sunday at 1pm at Jack McLaughlan Oval.
