Stage one of project was expected to wrap up on Monday August 31, after six months of delays.
Now rain is threatening to push the scheduled finish date back once again.
“The contractors haven’t ask for an extension yet,” project manager Greg Blaze said.
“The problem is you can’t do paving and grouting in the rain.
“With the weather report, there is the likelihood of a delay.”
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, showers are expected to continue through to Friday.
Paving is the main job left to do down the mall strip, with some curbs to be completed.
Pink spots have also appeared all over The Levee like a rash.
Maitland City Council and contractors were responsible for the dots, which indicate all the pavers that are not up to standard.
“The pink dots indicate the pavers that need work,” Mr Blaze said. “They might be too high and need the edge chipped off, or the grout might be too low and need to be redone.”
Contractors now have to work their way through the pavers one-by-one to bring them up to scratch.
The Levee completion is also waiting on the wooden furniture to return and be re-installed.
The furniture was found to be defective and was sent back to the manufacturer to be remade.
The pieces are expected to arrive some time this week.
The deadline for stage one of the project was originally February 2015, but unexpected ground work and wet weather saw the completion date pushed back.
Work was then meant to wrap up in mid-June, but the super storm destroyed almost 95 per cent of the construction materials, which had been stored at the Maitland rally ground.
Stock had to be reordered before work could resume and this pushed the deadline back again to August 31.
