Ninety pupils from the school will be in the show and art students are helping with the props and stage sets.
“It has been a team effort,” said the school’s community relations officer Vivienne Hughes.
“It all began when we asked the teachers what show they wanted to put on and they selected Narnia, the musical.”
Pupil Lissa Sculthorpe, who plays the role of Susan Pevensie, said she liked the idea of being an older sister in the production because she is the youngest member of her family.
Tillie Smith, 11, is sharing the star role of Lucy with another pupil, as two parts are involved in the musical.
“It’s fun because in the musical I get to be mean, which can’t happen in real life of course,” she said.
Sam Hughes, 16, will play Professor Digory Kirk and also the Lion King of Narnia.
“Narnia is a magical story set in another world,” he said.
The play will be set to music by Thomas Tierney and lyrics by Ted Drachman. The Maitland Christian School production takes place on Thursday, October 8 at 10.30am, Friday, October 9 at 10.30am and 7pm, and on Saturday, October 10, at 7pm.
Performances are at Metford Community Baptist Church, 83 Chelmsford Drive and tickets are $10 for school children and $15 for adults.
