All eight players have just returned from Australian Schools Championships in Brisbane with three national titles between them, an MVP award and invitations to overseas tours.
It was quite the achievement and they were acknowledged in front of their peers at assembly on Wednesday.
“They have all done particularly well,” Kurri high teacher and Northern NSW schools futsal co-ordinator Cameron Hall said.
“We were hoping to make a few finals but ended up with much more.”
The Kurri students all represented Northern NSW at the tournament, which was run north of the state border in the school holidays.
Northern sent five sides and clinched four prizes.
Ainsley Childs was voted most valuable player in the under 13s victorious campaign, which also included Brooke Kennedy and goalkeeper Emily Gordon.
Maddison Bartlett triumphed in the under-14 girls division.
In the boys section Matthew Finlay slotted home the winner with two minutes remaining for a 4-3 success against Sydney city, who had defeated Northern 7-1 in the preliminary rounds.
Angus Lathan was also part of the dramatic under 15s decider.
Izak Straker and Sam Whyburn made the quarter-final stage in the under-14 competition.
On the back of their performances all eight players from Kurri have received letters about international tours with the Australian Futsal Association next year to places such as the United Kingdom, Brazil and Greece.
In the winter this group play football for clubs such as Weston, Kurri Kurri and the Emerging Jets.
