The Hunters dropped the first set on all three rinks at home against the Cannons on Friday night, but recovered to win the second sets and ensuing tie breaks in the elimination semi-final.
“We’re over the moon,” Hunters skipper DJ Dilworth said.
“The manner in which we won was quite special because all three rinks lost the first sets.
“We had to fight back and the turnaround was quite remarkable.”
Maitland City now clash with title holders Raymond Terrace away on Thursday night and the winner will progress to the decider at East Cessnock on December 11.
The Hunters will be without marquee player Rowan Brassey, a world champion New Zealand international, with former Maitland Sportsperson of the Year George Niznik called up to lead triples and Darren Fogarty shifting to singles.
Friday’s second semi-final will be hosted by two-time champions East Cessnock and they will meet Charlestown, who knocked minor premiers Beresfield out Friday night.
Beresfield clinched the pairs but were beaten in the singles and triples.
The Magpies bow out of the competition in straight sets after going down to Raymond Terrace two days earlier.
