The Kookaburras won the Maitland and District Cricket Association round eight fixture by two wickets after chasing down the 121 required with 12 overs to spare.
Robert Clark scored a valuable 29 for the Kookaburras at No.9 after coming to the crease at a precarious 7-84.
When Dungog’s Blake Fisher (3-13) claimed Clark’s wicket it was all but too late with scores already level.
Earlier in the day Kurri change bowler James Jackson finished with figures of 6-24 from eight overs, which included the dismissal of Dungog top scorer Daniel Bashford (41).
Both teams sit on 23 competition points and share third position with Hinton (23), who beat frontrunners the Raworth Rabbitohs (27) by five wickets at Schanck Drive on Saturday.
The Rabbitohs were bundled out for 98 and Hinton scored bonus points by reaching the required figure in 17 overs.
Second-placed Port Stephens (26) missed a chance to go top of the charts after being upset by sixth-placed Windsor Castle (21) at home.
The Pythons could only reach 123 at King Park 5 in reply to the Stallions’ 9-207.
An all-round performance from Lleyton Eveleigh (46 not out, 3-38) wasn’t enough for Port Stephens with half-centuries posted by Windsor Castle pair Leigh Williams (56) and wicketkeeper Jarrod Bailey (54) as well as a milestone for opening bowler Kris Sturmer (5-25).
Elsewhere Mark Bills and Shannon Bills starred for the Karuah Sharks (17) in a five-wicket triumph over last-placed Paterson (16).
The Bills boys went 5-34 and 51 respectively for he hosts in successfully negotiating Paterson’s total of 179.
And at June McNaughton Oval it was Chelmsford Hotel (16) that got the better of Tenambit Morpeth (16) and caught them on the overall standings, chasing down 5-147 with six wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.
Saturday marks the halfway point of the A-grade season and the competition will soon be reduced to six teams based on rankings after this round.
